Some great art is coming about at the Calhoun County Career and Technical Center in Calhoun City.
Bruce students, along with others from the rest of the county, are studying pointillism in Amanda Gulledge’s classes.
“We are doing a study on pointillism (dot value). Each student completes a drawing using only dots. We practice making areas darker and lighter to show values and perspective,” said Gulledge.
“Gulledge told us to look up pointillism on the computers, then told us to find something that we really like. We picked our photos, and she projected it on the over head so we could trace it. When we got done tracing, she told us to put little dots on the lines we traced and fill in what we drew. When I get done with mine, it’s going to look like an evil fairy,” said Brianna Vaughn.
“The project is really time consuming. I like it alright, though. My picture is going to be a deer,” said Nathan Hill.
“This project is very fun! It’s the one I’ve enjoyed the most. I am making a flower!” said Latyra Bell.
“Well, yes, I am enjoying the project. My project was a bird and we’ve been working on it for the past week. So far it’s been different and interesting,” said Chaterika Martin.
“Well, I have already completed my project, but I did enjoy it. My picture was Stewie Griffin from Family Guy,” said Layton Morgan.
