These appointments were made at the Calhoun City town board meeting last night.
In the update on sewer and streets, Lee Burns reported on a few problems on Caldwell and Johnson streets that will need to be worked on.
“We have an inflow of surface water,” said Larry Bratton, and Mayor J.R. Denton explained that mainly on the east side of town too much rain is getting into the system and causing it to back up.

Denton said he will get a cost estimate and possibly apply for a Small Municipal Grant to cover this repair cost, saying that they have until June to apply.
At the request of Barbara Goodson for the Calhoun City Chamber of Commerce, $1,000 was approved for promotional expenses for the upcoming SquareFest.
Christian/Country group Red Roots of Tennessee will perform Friday night and Saturday morning.
“Rose Diamond (Chamber secretary) and Laura Edwards (Chamber president) are two hard-working ladies and they are doing great things,” said Goodson.

Approval was also given for the salary of the meter reader to be raised.
The meeting was recessed until Tuesday, May 12 at 6:30 p.m. at which time they will have a budget work session.
In a special meeting held March 25, Glenn Howard was hired as part-time public works employee after the resignation of Jimmy Howell.
